How to Backup or Restore Your Quicken Data Files?

Quicken software is the best software. If you want this software in your system computer/laptop, you download this Quicken software and if you back up your Quicken data, you can send your financial information (including reports, passwords, accounts, and attachments) Preserve. It is a way of keeping your records secure in case of computer failure or as a means of moving your data from one computer to another.

Please note, a Quicken Data file has an extension.QDF, while a Quicken backup file has an extension. QDF-Backup.

Important: Syncing to the Escan cloud does not create a backup; you cannot restore Quicken data from Quicken Cloud, and you cannot access Quicken Cloud from anywhere except in desktop and mobile Quicken products. Cloud backup is not automatically created when you backup your data file. You can use it for your 

Quicken Backup files.

Backup to Quicken for Windows

  1. Choose File> Backup and Restore> Backup Quicken File…
  2. You will have two options for backing up your data: You can backup your computer or an external drive (such as a USB thumb drive), or, you can use Dropbox.
  3. To help identify your latest backup, you can place a check next to the Add date to the backup file name.
  4. Quicken will display the location where your backup will be saved along with the name of the backup file ;( this is usually the name of your Quicken file after .QDF-Backup)
  • 1. The default save location for backup files is C: \ Users \ (enter Your Name) \ Documents \ Quicken software \ BACKUP and we recommend leaving it unchanged.
  • 2. If you want to change this selects system location, click Change … then choose a new folder to save the backup. After making your selection, click save option.
  1. Now click on Back up.

Restore Quicken data

  1. Select File> Backup and Restore> Restore from backup file…
  2. Select Restore from your backup, then click Browse.
  3. Browse your computer or external media to restore the backup file. The Quicken Backup file has an extension. QDF backup.
  4. Select the file to be restored and click Open then Restore Backup.
  5. At the following prompt, you will be given the option to overwrite the file you have opened or to make a copy of the backup you are restoring.
  6. If you form a copy. You must select a location to save the copy of your system computer/laptop and you must also give the copy a unique file name. Then After naming the file and selecting file the location, click Save, then click Yes to open the restored file.
  7. If you are restoring a file to the current file, then your click your system OK to overwrite the current file, and then click Yes system file to open the restored file.

You know What does it mean to overwrite a file?: Restoring a backup file replaces your current data with the data stored on the backup disk in your system . Be aware that you will lose the changes you have made since the backup file was made. If you want to protect the current file, you must rename the current file or the file you are restoring. We recommend avoiding overwriting files.
